The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) recently dismantled a vape smuggling syndicate operating at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The operation, codenamed Ops Airways, led to the arrest of 14 individuals, including six customs officers, for allegedly colluding in the illegal activities. The syndicate caused an estimated RM8 million in lost tax revenue for the country. During raids on two warehouses linked to the syndicate, authorities discovered 122,000 vape units worth RM7.3 million in unpaid taxes.
