Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed optimism about Malaysia's economic prospects in 2024, citing the implementation of several initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of citizens. He emphasized the 'Madani Economy' framework, which guides leadership and future generations to strengthen an economy based on human-centric principles of compassion, kindness, and justice. Anwar highlighted the government's efforts to implement a new paradigm shift starting this year, acknowledging that not all policies would be immediately popular or yield quick results. He stressed that these decisions were made with clear political intent, sincerity, and careful consideration to ensure maximum benefit for the people. The Prime Minister also addressed previous government decisions regarding diesel subsidies and electricity tariffs, stating that they were aimed at curbing long-standing leakages. He explained that the subsidies were being exploited by the wealthy and 3.5 million undocumented foreign nationals.
