Louisville teen celebrates “clap-out” after 52 days of recovering at Akron Children’s Hospital
CLEVELAND , Ohio - Waking up to take medicine, then going to physical therapy, followed by more medicine, and another session of physical therapy. AKRON : He’s out! 👏🏼 After 52 long days Akron Children's, Brandon Pittman is heading home! 🎉 Watch our coverage of the celebration Cleveland 19 News!After his initial accident on June 4th, Brandon was sent to Akron Children’s Hospital– where doctors didn’t think he would make it.
“When you have a patient like Brandon, that he is making just incredible recovery– that’s what brings us joy and happiness.”“The stories are going through this hospital that there’s a 17-year-old kid, from Louisville, Ohio that shouldn’t have made it – and he’s doing things that should not be done yet,” Brian Pittsman said.
Within less than 2 months, Brandon Pittman had his “clap-out” celebration. A moment for nurses, doctors, and all types of staff to congratulate Brandon on being discharged home. “I’m always trying to do good, and I’m always trying to do all my therapy and everything,” Brandon Pittman said.After 52 long days of treatments and physical therapy, Brandon is now able to sleep in his own bed.“We talk about going to Browns games together, and how we watch Ohio State. I’ve coached since he was knee-high with his friends– and I thought I had lost all that.
