Perhimpunan Ummah Melaka Bantah Penghinaan Nabi Muhammad anjuran Pembela Ummah Melaka itu turut menggabungkan UMNO dan Pas Melaka selain disertai beberapa pertubuhan bukan kerajaan dan orang ramai.
Pengerusi Pembela Ummah Melaka yang juga Timbalan Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan UMNO negeri, Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad berkata, kehadiran ribuan umat Islam menyokong perhimpunan itu merupakan isyarat jelas rasa ketidakpuasan hati umat Islam di seluruh negara. “Individu yang melakukan perkara ini jelas melanggar syarat Islam sebagai agama Persekutuan dan sepatutnya, Ketua Hakim Negara dan Peguam Negara patut bertindak pantas terhadap pihak yang menghina agama Islam serta Nabi Muhammad tetapi ia tidak berlaku.
