Wai Foo Sing faces up to five years' jail and a fine of RM50,000.
KUALA LUMPUR: A 68-year-old man man today claimed trial in the Sessions Court to two charges of insulting Prophet Muhammad through a cartoon image he posted on his Facebook page.
On the first charge under Section 298A of the Penal Code, Wai Foo Sing is accused of uploading the post on his Facebook account under the name “Foo Sing Wai”.The second charge is under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, for posting an offensive content on the Facebook page with the intention to annoy any person.Both offences were allegedly committed about 5pm on Feb 17.
“It will also send a wrong message to the public on the administration of justice in this country,” he added. Wai, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lower bail amount as he was unemployed and had health problems.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
