JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has warned the public of fake charity drives, purportedly to raise funds for flood victims.
"Forms bearing the council's name and logo, along with the name of a mosque in Bandar Baru Uda have been going around, seemingly to collect donations for flood victims.
"The public is advised to be careful as MBJB is not involved in any such activities," it said in a statement on Thursday . The forms claim that the donation drive is to collect funds for flood victims in Johor Baru, Segamat, Labis, Chaah, Pagoh, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi.It also claims that a similar donation drive had helped victims of the natural disaster in Kelantan and Terengganu last year."The people can go to the authorities if they find a suspicious donation drive or organisation," it added.
