Parents in Kota Bharu receive free school supplies through the Jom Ke Sekolah Program, alleviating their financial burden.

KOTA BHARU : A large number of parents will not have to spend a significant amount of money on school uniforms for their children as they received free school supplies through the Jom Ke Sekolah Program yesterday. The contribution was made by Yayasan Taqwa of the Islamic Religious Council of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (MAIWP) and the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) and was presented by Kota Lama State Assemblyman (ADUN), Dr.

Hafidzah Mustakim to 500 students and pupils from 10 selected mukims among the asnaf and poor. Asmidar Hasim, a 33-year-old mother, expressed her gratitude as her second child, Ariana Khalisya Mohd. Afendi, 10, was chosen to receive school uniform assistance. She said she was supposed to buy school uniforms for Ariana Khalisya and her two other children aged six and 13 in the near future. “However, I was informed by the relevant parties that one of my children is eligible to receive this assistance. “On average, RM400 is spent each year to buy school supplies for my children. Alhamdulillah, with this assistance, it has somewhat eased the burden on my husband and myself who only works as a laborer,” she said when met at the program at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tengku Indera Petra.She said the Awal Persekolahan Bantuan (BAP) assistance received earlier could be used to pay school fees and buy books for each of her children. Another housewife, Shamsurina Nadia Muhamad, 30, also expressed her gratitude as her son, Mohd. Hafiz Syazwa Abdullah, 13, received the school supplies. She said that even though only one child was in school, the contribution was very meaningful for her family. “I do not work and my husband only works alone, so this contribution has greatly eased the burden,” she said. - UTUSA
