PETALING JAYA: A mission to deliver food and daily necessities to 500 people stranded in Kampung Haji Hamisan, Ladang Chaah and Lombong Besi in Johor was carried out successfully, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Ayer Hitam MP said the residents' homes were not flooded but access to the area was cut off as all roads leading to the area were inaccessible to normal vehicles.
"We've brought a number of heavy vehicles that could navigate the flooded roads and deliver food and necessities. "The mission was led by Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon and included a number of resourceful volunteers," the MCA president said in a Facebook post on Monday . Dr Wee also thanked Ling and his team for the successful mission that brought smiles to the faces of flood victims.
As at 8am on Monday, Johor recorded 49,070 flood evacuees seeking shelter at 269 temporary relief centres in all 10 districts statewide.
