NSTnation Floods hit six villages in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Major Ismail Mahedin said the affected villages were Kampung Senangeh, Kampung Ulu Sadong, Kampung Rangawan, Kampung Semera Ulu, Kampung Sampun Jugu and Kampung Tambirat.
He said Civil Defence Department personnel have been deployed to the said areas to assist the villagers.“We have also identified several other areas in Asajaya and Sadong Jaya, which are at risk of flash floods,” he said in a statement today."Civil Defence Department and the other agencies involved will continue to monitor these areas," he said.No one was hurt in the 8am incident, he said.Ismail said villagers had covered the landslide area with canvas to prevent further damage.
“We have informed those staying nearby to be on high alert since it is expected to rain for another two days.” he added.
