Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the National Disaster Management Agency ( Nadma ) to strengthen coordination between federal and state response teams following severe flooding in Sabah and Sarawak . His primary concern is the well-being of flood victims and ensuring their safety in affected areas. Anwar expressed deep sorrow over the escalating flood situation, offering condolences to the thousands displaced by the disaster.
He urged those affected to remain resilient in the face of this hardship. The Prime Minister also directed State Education Departments to implement measures ensuring that Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates impacted by the floods can safely and comfortably take their exams. Anwar announced the deployment of the Skuad Ihsan Madani to assist flood victims at relief centers and prepare for post-flood operations. According to the National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC) portal, as of 4 pm today, a total of 10,621 people have been evacuated to relief centers, with 6,692 in Sarawak and 3,929 in Sabah
