Ending trade restrictions on Aussie goods is 'in China’s interest'; differences shouldn't be a barrier to improving relations, says Penny Wong.

The CCP imposed sweeping restrictions on Australian products – ranging from beef and wine to coal – after then-prime minister Scott Morrison called for an inquiry into the origins of COVID-19. But while Chinese people have gone without Australian produce, Australian industries have successfully sought out other markets.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said it was in China's own interests to end the trade barriers it has imposed on Australian products. “That’s good, that’s about economic resilience and ensuring in a globalised economy that you’re able to export goods and services to a range of export markets," she said.
