The Malaysian Education Ministry is taking steps to ensure SPM candidates are not negatively impacted by disasters.

The Education Ministry (MOE) is collaborating with the National Disaster Management Agency and the Malaysian Meteorological Department to implement early measures to assist Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM ) candidates affected by disasters. Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh stated that this assistance extends to those affected by any disaster, not just floods.

Wong explained that the MOE has a contingency operation called 'Operasi Payung' to ensure students can attend the SPM examination in case of student or state impacts by disasters. This reflects the ministry's commitment and proactive efforts. Wong also emphasized the ministry's continuous collaboration with the two agencies to ensure early preparedness for potential disasters. Wong addressed reporters after delivering a motivational speech to SPM candidates at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kampong Pasir Puteh. He expressed confidence in the ministry's ability to manage unexpected situations, citing the successful handling of the recent oral examination phase affected by floods. Wong encouraged SPM candidates facing any issues to contact the Examination Board's operations room or the State Education Department
