Despite grumblings about smoking ban, more are quitting, says minister

THE decision to extend the no-fine, awareness period for smokers to get used to the smoking ban in restaurants is not a U-turn and has in fact yielded positive results, with more people quitting tobacco, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said. He denied the delay till the end of the year to fully enforce the ban with fines indicated that the government had rushed into introducing the rule on January 1.
