PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,464 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Aug 21), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,757,752 since the pandemic began, says the Health Ministry.
The ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 2,448 of Sunday's new cases were local transmissions while there were 16 imported infections.
The CovidNow portal also reported that there are currently 38,918 active Covid-19 infections in the country, with 96.1%, or 37,408 patients, observing home quarantine and 0.1%, or 32 individuals, seeking treatment at quarantine and treatment centres nationwide. The portal reported that 36 individuals being treated at ICUs nationwide on Sunday did not require ventilator support while 33 were ventilated.
