Three anglers were rescued by villagers and fishermen after their rented boat sank off the coast of Tuaran, Sabah.
Three anglers are alive today thanks to the quick thinking of villagers and local fishermen after their rented boat sank in the Tuaran district of Kota Kinabalu. The incident occurred at Mimpian Jadi beach on Wednesday afternoon (January 22nd) and left the three men, whose identities were not released, in a perilous situation.
The Sabah State Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at approximately 12:35 pm and immediately dispatched a team to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation. Upon arrival, authorities were informed that one of the anglers had already been rescued by villagers shortly after the boat sank. Another two were located safe and sound by fishermen about 2 kilometers from the reported sinking point at around 1:50 pm. The first rescued angler was transported to the Tuaran hospital before the arrival of the fire department. The other two were found by fishermen and thankfully reported to be in stable condition. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions while engaging in water-based activities and the vital role that local communities play in providing immediate assistance during emergencies
