A lorry carrying 78,000 chicken eggs overturned on the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2) yesterday, resulting in a large quantity of eggs being scattered across the road. The lorry driver and his assistant were unharmed in the accident, which occurred after the lorry was hit by another vehicle and veered off the road. The lorry owner allowed members of the public to collect the undamaged eggs, preventing them from going to waste.
A lorry carrying 78,000 chicken eggs overturned on Kilometer 293.8 of the East Coast Highway 2 ( LPT2 ) yesterday. According to a TV3 News report, the lorry is believed to have overturned after being hit by another lorry before veering off the road. The incident is reported to have occurred at 5:30 am. However, the lorry driver and his assistant, aged 40 and 25 respectively, were uninjured.
During the incident, the lorry assistant, Mohd Izzat Izzudin, 25, stated that the lorry they were traveling in with his colleague swerved to the left and overturned after being hit by a frozen food lorry from behind. He said that at the time, they were on their way to deliver egg supplies from Raub, Pahang to Kuala Terengganu. The lorry owner acted by giving permission to the public, especially residents living nearby, to collect the eggs that were still in good condition to take home. According to him, this was to prevent wastage. However, the owner did not allow the collected eggs to be sold. The incident also went viral on social media, causing many highway users passing through the location of the incident to stop and collect eggs to take home.
