AirAsia Malaysia, identified by flight code AK, is aggressively expanding its fifth-freedom route network, unveiling a new service that will connect Kaohsiung and Osaka . This route, which forms part of its existing Kuala Lumpur- Kaohsiung service, signifies the next phase in the airline's North Asia network development. This expansion follows the successful launch of its initial fifth-freedom route last year, which connected Kota Kinabalu and Fukuoka, with a layover in Taipei.

The introduction of the Kaohsiung-Osaka route is designed to enhance the connectivity between Taiwan and Japan while capitalizing on Kuala Lumpur as a major hub within the airline's broader network. Flights from Kaohsiung to Osaka will be available from TWD2,690, all-inclusive, for a one-way trip, while flights from Osaka to Kaohsiung will be priced from JPY11,990, also all-inclusive, one-way.
