Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS) has launched a pioneering petrol station project built on wakaf land, featuring a two-story fast-food restaurant. This initiative, a collaboration with PETRON, is a first in Selangor and Malaysia and aims to generate sustainable income, create jobs, and stimulate the local economy. The project, managed by WS Energy 1 Sdn Bhd, cost RM9 million and uses the Dealer-Owned Dealer-Operated (DODO) model. A significant portion of the profits will benefit Masjid Sungai Ramal Luar.

A groundbreaking wakaf development by Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor ( PWS ), a petrol station complete with a two-story fast-food restaurant, has commenced operations. This innovative project, situated on a 1.25-acre plot of wakaf land owned by the Majlis Agama Islam Selangor ( MAIS ) at Lot PT 69581, HSM 28476, Mukim Dengkil, Sepang, marks a significant milestone in wakaf development.

The petrol station, a collaboration with PETRON, is managed under the Dealer-Owned Dealer-Operated (DODO) concept, ensuring sustainable operations and optimal returns for the wakaf. This approach allows PWS to maintain control and receive maximized returns to further serve the community.\Anuar Hamzah Tohar, the Chief Executive Officer of PWS, highlighted that this project is a first of its kind in Selangor and Malaysia, being built entirely on wakaf land. The operation of the petrol station is managed by WS Energy 1 Sdn Bhd (WSE1), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PWS specifically established to oversee high-impact wakaf development projects. This strategic approach ensures efficient management and allows PWS to focus on expanding its reach and impact within the community. The project, which officially opened yesterday, is designed to generate sustainable income, create employment opportunities, and stimulate local economic activity. The implementation of this wakaf initiative underscores PWS’s commitment to the development of wakaf land in Selangor, aiming to empower integrated and progressive wakaf development for the long-term benefit of the community and the socioeconomic advancement of the Muslim community. The project, with a total cost of RM9 million, covers construction, infrastructure, consulting, and other associated expenses, all sourced from public wakaf funds. Importantly, 50 percent of the project's benefits will be allocated to Masjid Sungai Ramal Luar, as specified by the original land waqf donor, ensuring the fulfilment of the donor's intention and strengthening the bond between the wakaf project and the mosque community.\The project’s success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders. Anuar Hamzah expressed gratitude to all involved, including government agencies and private sector partners, for their crucial role in making this project a reality. He also extended thanks to the community for their participation in the wakaf program. PWS has also identified three additional locations, including Johan Setia and Jalan Reko, for future petrol station developments mirroring the model established in Sungai Merab. The expansion of these projects reflects the organization's strategic vision for growing the impact of wakaf through innovative and sustainable projects. With continued collaboration and support, PWS aims to construct several more stations on wakaf land dedicated to providing benefits to the intended recipients. This proactive approach ensures the continuous growth of the wakaf ecosystem, which will provide ongoing support to the target beneficiaries and further strengthen the community. The commitment to building more waqf-based projects ensures that the legacy of waqf continues to support the needs of the community while fostering financial sustainability and economic growth
