A RM200 million flood mitigation project on the LPT1 highway in Peninsular Malaysia is aimed at improving the highway's resilience against flooding and adverse weather. The project includes elevating the road in flood-prone areas, upgrading drainage systems, and stabilizing slopes to prevent erosion and landslides. This comes after recent severe flooding in Kelantan and Terengganu, with experts predicting the worst flooding in a decade.
The flood mitigation project on the LPT1 highway in Peninsular Malaysia is expected to be completed by December 2028. The RM200 million project aims to improve the highway's resilience against adverse weather conditions. It includes elevating the road in flood-prone areas, upgrading drainage systems, and stabilizing slopes and embankments to prevent erosion and landslides. The project will also enhance water absorption through strategic vegetation management.
This initiative follows recent severe flooding in Kelantan and Terengganu, with experts predicting the worst flooding in a decade. The Karak/LPT1 widening project, which adds lanes and includes a new tunnel, complements this flood mitigation effort
