IPOH: A 31-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries following a crash involving two vehicles along the West Coast Expressway from Kampung Kayan , Sitiawan towards Teluk Intan .
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that two other victims from the same vehicle sustained injuries.
“The woman trapped at the driver’s seat suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel. “The other victims from the same vehicle who were not trapped were a 65-year-old woman who suffered head injuries and a fractured thigh and a 27-year-old person with disability seated at the rear passenger seat sustained head injuries,” he said in a statement.
A male victim in his 40s from the other vehicle had managed to exit his car but suffered severe injuries to his leg. Sabarodzi said the operation commander conducted an assessment and applied the Saver concept before directing personnel to carry out rescue operations using special rescue tools and a stretcher to extricate the trapped victim.
