SINGAPORE: A domestic helper who was allegedly raped by a tourist at an open field in Short Street was sexually assaulted by another man just minutes later.
BUTTERWORTH : A man who allegedly caused grievous hurt with a machete in an attack at Telok Ayer Tawar , near Butterworth , had been brought before the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was remanded for seven days until April 21 to assist in investigations.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said police received information about the incident at about 9.16pm where the victim, a local man, was assaulted by an acquaintance. “Initial investigations found that the attack took place at a vehicle workshop, and the incident was captured on closed-circuit television ,” he said in a statement on Wednesday .
He added that the victim suffered severe injuries, including wounds to the back, five stitches to the head, a severed right index finger, a nearly severed right middle finger, and a nearly severed left wrist.Azizee said a team from the Criminal Investigation Department of the North Seberang Perai police headquarters arrested the suspect, a local man, in Butterworth on April 15.
“Urine screening tests found the suspect to be positive for methamphetamine. Checks also revealed that he has two criminal records and 11 drug-related offences,” he said.
