Shah Alam district police chief ACP Ramsay Embol confirmed that the suspect had been convicted of the offences and jailed in 2008.
“Checks revealed that the suspect has a criminal record and had previously served time in prison for the offences. ” he said briefly when contacted today. Yesterday, Ramsay was reported as saying that the suspect allegedly lured the teenager by offering to pay for a mobile phone internet package in exchange for helping to carry items at his house. While being confined alone in the apartment, the teenager managed to free himself and shouted for help through a bedroom window. — Bernama
