A 32-year-old Vietnamese woman in Japan's Osaka Prefecture died after collapsing during a solo climb on Mount Ryozen in Shiga Prefecture.
A 26-SECOND video has been making the rounds on social media showing what appears to be a brazen daylight theft at a supermarket car park . The footage shows a man approaching an elderly woman, snatching something from her hand and then running to a vehicle before driving off.
The incident, which allegedly took place in Taman Putri, Kulai, has sparked concern amongst residents about safety in public parking areas. But did this carjacking really happen and was it captured on CCTV?A carjacking incident at a supermarket car park in Taman Putri, Kulai, was captured on closed-circuit television on Saturday afternoon. Kulai OCPD Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee confirmed that authorities received a report over the viral video showing a man snatching a key from a woman before fleeing the scene with her car."Initial investigations found that the victim, a woman in her 70s, was heading to the supermarket after parking her car," he said in a statement."The man, who was wearing a face mask, then snatched her car keys before driving off with the vehicle," he added.The case is being investigated under Section 392/379A of the Penal Code. If convicted under Section 392, the offender may face imprisonment of up to 14 years and may also be liable to a fine or whipping. Under Section 379A, the offender may be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than one year and not more than seven years, and may also be fined. ACP Tan urged those with information about the incident to come forward to assist in investigations by contacting the Kulai headquarters hotline at 07-663 2222 or the investigating officer, Inspector Arun Ramamoorthy, at 013-3332385. "We also urge the public to remain vigilant and to take care of their personal safety and belongings to avoid becoming victims of crime," he said.
