Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional has withdrawn support for the state government led by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, citing loss of confidence in his handling of the state royal crisis. State Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias stated that all 14 Umno assemblymen have lost faith in Aminuddin's leadership, accusing him of mishandling the crisis involving the removal of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar. The move comes amid a political dispute over the legality of the ruler's removal and the role of the state executive council. Barisan Nasional, with 14 seats in the state assembly, demands a stable government focused on the people's welfare and economic growth.

State Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said all 14 Umno assemblymen in the state have lost confidence in Aminuddin's leadership in relation to the handling of the state royal crisis.

"All 14 Umno and Barisan Nasional assemblymen have lost confidence in Aminuddin's leadership and hereby withdraw our support for Aminuddin," he said in a statement Monday . "We are deeply saddened and dissapointed. As a political party which highly respects the customs and constitution, we will never get involved in such matters," he said. Jalaluddin said the state executive council and Barisan were never invited for any discussions on the matter.

He said they only came to know of the crisis when it had reached a critical stage and debated publicly.

"This crisis will affect the administration of the state govermment and indirectly have a deep impact on the stability of the state govermment and harmony," he said. Jalaluddin, who is also a senior state executive councillor, said Barisan would always safeguard the Adat institution and the Laws of the State of Negri Sembilan 1959.

"We want a stable government which can play an effective administrative role and focus on objectives for the betterment of the people and the state economy," he said. Jalauddin, who is Pertang assemblyman, said a notification on Barisan's decision would be sent to the State Speaker and secretary of the legislative assembly after the press conference. Mohamad is away attending an official eventBarisan has 14 seats in the state assembly while Pakatan Harapan has 17 and Perikatan Nasional .

The state royal crisis started on April 19 when the four Undang decided to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir on grounds of misconduct. The four are the Undang of Sungei Ujong Datuk Mubarak Dohak, Undang of Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang of Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah and Undang of Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin. Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun then questioned the legality of the attempt to remove the state ruler.

Aminuddin claimed this was because Mubarak had himself been removed as Undang on April 17 and as such, no longer held any authority. Mubarak, he claimed, was removed due to offences related to the traditions and customary laws following a meeting of the DKU . The four have since disputed this. They went on to say that Aminuddin was no longer fit to lead the state administration and should be replaced.

In another statement late Wednesday , the four Undang and Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Syed Idrus Al-Qadri said they would be skipping the official opening ceremony of the state legislative assembly by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir the following mornimg. They advised the Negri Sembilan government to defer the opening until a new state Ruler is proclaimed.

At the opening, Tuanku Muhriz said the absence of state dignitaries will not affect the legitimacy of the session. The ruler said although it was a norm for them to be present at the official opening of the assembly, their decision to stay away would not disrupt proceedings of the day.
