Pius X College in Goregaon, highlighted the FCCO's journey from its establishment in 1994 to becoming a crucial network of community centers driving grassroots empowerment across Mumbai. Founded by Bishop Allwyn D’Silva and Sr. Seema, the FCCO has championed the rights of marginalized communities for three decades, according to the Archdiocese of Bombay. The milestone event brought together religious leaders, activists, and community workers to reflect on its achievements and chart its future. \The celebration began with a prayer by Fr. Jervis D’Souza, Secretary of the Social Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Bombay, who quoted Scripture to encapsulate the FCCO’s mission: “He sent me to set the captives free.” Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the chief guest, joined other dignitaries in a symbolic tree-watering ceremony, representing the FCCO’s sustained growth and resilience. Adding a creative flair, a satirical play directed by sociologist and art director Dr. Omkar Bhatkar depicted the innovative strategies employed by communities to assert their rights. \Recognizing the contributions of its pioneers, the FCCO honored Sr. Seema with a special felicitation presented by Cardinal Gracias, while Bishop Allwyn D’Silva received a certificate of honor for his visionary leadership. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to grassroots workers who have been instrumental in driving the FCCO’s mission. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Vibhuti Patel, former head of the Economics Department at SNDT College, highlighted the FCCO’s crucial role in dismantling caste and social barriers. “People’s Power is the need of the hour,” she emphasized, lauding the FCCO’s unwavering commitment to community development.
