KUALA LUMPUR: The Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) has appointed Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah as its new CEO effective May 20. In a statement, KWAP said Jay Khairil will succeed Nik Amlizan Mohamed, who has served as CEO since 2020.

In a statement, KWAP said Jay Khairil will succeed Nik Amlizan Mohamed, who has served as CEO since 2020. The fund also expressed its appreciation to Nik Amlizan for her leadership, service and contributions to KWAP’s continued progress during her tenure. KWAP said Jay Khairil will lead the organisation’s strategic direction, operations and institutional priorities while advancing its mandate as Malaysia's public sector pension fund through disciplined investment, strong governance and long-term stewardship.
Jay Khairil brings nearly 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, with expertise in financial management, governance, internal audit, risk management and institutional transformation. Before joining KWAP, he served as chief executive of Bank Simpanan Nasional , where he led the bank’s transformation in financial performance, digital banking, operational resilience and financial inclusion, while strengthening its developmental role nationwide. He had also previously served as BSN's chief financial officer and chief internal auditor.
He has also held senior positions at CIMB Group, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Bank Negara Malaysia. He is a chartered banker, chartered global management accountant and certified financial services auditor. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and a chartered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia.
In a separate statement, BSN chairman Awang Adek Hussin said Jay Khairil played a key role in strengthening the bank’s financial performance and social mandate, while reinforcing governance and expanding financial inclusion, positioning BSN as a more sustainable and resilient institution. BSN deputy chief executive Mujibburrahman Rashid, who has served since 2018, has been appointed acting chief executive.
