PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is stepping up its fight against corruption and is determined to protect public wealth , says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim . The Prime Minister said the government would also ensure that no one, regardless of rank, was above the law.

“The leadership cannot allow the plundering of national wealth. This is why, for the first time in history, enforcement agencies have taken action against corruption regardless of rank, whether Tun, Tan Sri, Datuk or anyone else,” he said. Anwar made the remarks during the breaking of fast event at Seri Perdana with the Higher Education Ministry and Education Ministry Saturday . He added that recent investigations involving senior figures, including the Malaysian Armed Forces leadership, ministerial officers and even the Prime Minister’s political secretary, have also demonstrated Putrajaya’s commitment to combating corruption, despite continuous attacks against him. “This sends a clear message. Our actions must be transparent and courageous. Yet those affected often try to resist, using their resources, social media and political influence to attack. “When they resist, they use the large funds they had amassed and their social media or political networks to criticise. “As a result, those genuinely committed to fighting corruption have now become the enemy. I have had to defend myself, though I try not to be distracted,” he said.Selangor Sultan commends cops for swift arrests after mosque donation box theft
