The company's retail director for Malaysia, Malcolm Pruys, stated that IKEA Malaysia's primary focus remains on meeting the needs of local consumers and showing empathy towards those affected by the current crisis. Long-term contracts with suppliers and close collaboration help mitigate cost increases. IKEA Malaysia has no immediate plans to raise prices and is even exploring the possibility of lowering prices for key product categories like bedding, cookware, tableware, and seating furniture, aiming to make essential home items more affordable.

Pengarah Runcit Negara IKEA Malaysia, Malcolm Pruys berkata, sebagai peruncit kelengkapan rumah, fokus utama mereka kekal kepada memenuhi keperluan pengguna tempatan di Malaysia, sekali gus menzahirkan empati terhadap pihak yang terjejas oleh krisis semasa.

Dalam pada itu, Malcolm berkata, IKEA Malaysia tiada rancangan untuk menaikkan harga dalam masa terdekat. “Malah, syarikat sedang meneliti kemungkinan untuk menurunkan harga bagi beberapa kategori produk utama. “Antara fokus utama termasuk keperluan tidur, peralatan memasak dan makan serta perabot tempat duduk. “Kami sentiasa berusaha menjadikan harga lebih mampu milik, khususnya bagi keperluan asas di rumah,” katanya. Dari segi prestasi, jualan kelengkapan rumah kekal stabil berbanding tahun lalu, manakala segmen makanan menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang memberangsangkan. Untuk jangka sederhana, jelas Malcolm, IKEA Malaysia menyasarkan pertumbuhan sekitar lima peratus setiap tahun dalam tempoh lima tahun akan datang.“Pengguna mengambil masa lebih lama sebelum membuat pembelian, tetapi apabila mereka berbelanja, nilai perbelanjaan itu lebih tinggi,” katanya. Walaupun berdepan cabaran global, beliau berkata, IKEA Malaysia kekal optimistik terhadap prospek perniagaan. “Tanda-tanda pemulihan kecil mula kelihatan dan syarikat yakin permintaan akan terus berkembang secara beransur-ansur. “Kami yakin dengan potensi pasaran Malaysia dan akan terus memberi nilai terbaik kepada pelanggan,” tambahnya.-UTUSAN
