Nga made these remarks following a visit to the Canning Garden market on Sunday, January 26th. Earlier this month, reports emerged that the Ipoh City Council was exploring the possibility of banning alcohol sales in areas with a predominantly Muslim population. Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin explained that the council had received public suggestions and was currently evaluating their feasibility in such areas. He acknowledged the right of individuals to consume alcohol if permitted, suggesting that those who choose not to drink simply avoid purchasing it.
