MAS units are now on Malaysian roads, showing the growing acceptance of electrified mobility in the country. According to PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang, the achievement indicates strong consumer trust and changing preferences.
“Surpassing the 20,000-unit milestone... indicates a clear shift in Malaysia, where more drivers are embracing electrified mobility with confidence,” he said in a statement. The achievement is largely powered by strong demand for the Proton e. MAS 7 PHEV, which has become Malaysia’s best-selling plug-in hybrid model so far in 2026. The model has seen 1,755 units registered year-to-date and has accumulated over 6,500 bookings since its launch in early February.
Its momentum continued in April, with 1,013 registrations for that month alone. Overall, the Proton e. MAS lineup has recorded 20,509 cumulative registrations this year. This figure comprises 10,067 units of the larger e.
MAS 7 and 8 models, and 8,687 units of the compact e. MAS 5. Sustained demand was evident in April, which contributed 3,421 registrations across the entire range. To support this rapid growth, Zhang confirmed that PRO-NET is aggressively scaling up its nationwide ecosystem.
“As our electric vehicle base continues to grow, it is equally important that we strengthen the ecosystem supporting our customers,” he said. This expansion includes increasing the number of dealer operations, strengthening aftersales capacity, and improving access to EV charging support. The Proton e. MAS network currently consists of 53 dealer operations and 10 body and paint centres, with a plan to expand its 3S centres to 40 locations to meet rising customer demand.
