PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh provides proof that former ministers Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad joined Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) before vacating their respective parliamentary seats, suggesting fraudulent intent.
JOHOR BARU: PKR has proof that former ministers Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad joined Parti Bersama Malaysia before vacating their respective parliamentary seats, says Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.
The PKR secretary-general said the party has information showing that the former Pandan and Setiawangsa MPs joined Bersama on Sunday .
"We have proof and a timestamp that they joined Bersama a day before they were supposed to vacate their parliamentary seats as they announced," she told reporters after a consumer advocacy programme here on Monday . She was asked whether Rafizi and Nik Nazmi would be subjected to a RM10mil PKR bond for vacating their seats.
All PKR candidates signed a bond before the 14th General Election in 2018, where they were required to pay RM10mil within seven days if they won their seats on a PKR ticket but later resigned, joined another party or became independent. Fuziah said the duo had announced that they would vacate their parliamentary seats on Monday and officially resign from PKR on Tuesday .
"According to the party's constitution, this means they had already defected on May 17, prior to vacating their seats today. On whether action would be taken against the five PKR MPs who were seen at the event in Petaling Jaya where Rafizi and Nik Nazmi announced their new political direction, Fuziah said the party would discuss its next course of action at a political bureau meeting on Tuesday.
On Sunday, Rafizi and Nik Nazmi took over Bersama, also known as the Malaysian United Party, which was registered on December 2, 2016. Also present at the event were PKR MPs Wong Chen , Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik , Rodziah Ismail , Zahir Hassan and Lee Chean Chung .
