Kota Kinabalu : A 34-year-old man, who damaged his neighbour’s property following a dispute over dog faeces, was on Friday fined RM1,300 or one month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court.
Agus Susanto Albert pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to committing mischief by damaging a red plastic chair belonging to one Shely Rolda Guevarra outside a house at Kampung Hungab, Penampang, at 10.05am on April 30, causing losses amounting to RM39. The court heard from the prosecution that the incident occurred after Agus went to the complainant’s house in an angry state and questioned her over dog faeces found near the area. Pijah Kilah pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to engaging in gambling activities at an open area near a Petronas station in Donggongon town, Penampang, at 4.45pm on Nov 1, 2025. The charge under Section 7 of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 provides a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to six months or both, upon conviction.
The law also provides for any gambling equipment or items seized during the offence to be forfeited to the Government. The prosecution informed the court that a police team conducted an “Op Dadu” operation at the location and found Pijah involved in online top-up gambling activities. She was detained together with several seized items before being brought to the Penampang police headquarters for further action. Pijah appealed for a lighter sentence, saying she is the eldest among seven siblings.
The prosecution applied for the forfeiture of RM50 seized during the arrest, which was allowed by the court as Government revenue. Deputy Public Prosecutor Arfa Anchal Khan and Inspector Yusdi Basri prosecuted.
