KUALA LUMPUR: A massive police operation saw 191 suspects detained for drug offences in 231 raids from last Thursday to Sunday. The raids in Langkawi , Kuala Kedah and Perlis , codenamed Ops Langka, were launched following Home Ministry concerns of increased drug use in the two states.
NCID director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan told a press conference on Thursday that information gathered during raids in the northern states led to the seizure of RM13.68mil worth of ganja in Putrajaya and here. "We detained seven suspects, including two foreigners, a male and female, after raiding a condominium in Putrajaya and a terrace house in Setapak on Sunday. "We seized 170.74kg of ganja buds and 7.04kg of ganja in the operation codenamed Ops Conops," he said. Those detained worked as coordinators, recruiting drug mules, packing the drugs and runners, he added.“Five suspects were remanded until this Sunday, while two others were released after the remand application was rejected. Five of them tested positive for various drugs while two tested negative," he said. Comm Hussein said the syndicate used condominiums to store and repack the drugs before being distributed for local and overseas markets.
