It’s charming, cozy and friendly, everything you want in a cafe in a quiet mountain town.
Chandeliers are made of top hats and tea cups, and every table has table settings that look like they came straight from the classic children’s book. Almost every nook and cranny is filled with vintage goods. The Hatter Cafe has a large tea menu filled with classics and seasonal offerings. You can get a Southernized version of a three-tier tea party with a reservation.
But they didn’t anticipate just how many they’d find. Roger explains that they thought they’d be in at least Chattanooga by the end of the first day, but they didn’t even make it out of Alabama, they were so overwhelmed by all the vendors along the way.They found a hotel room for the first night, and the next morning over breakfast, some fellow guests told them something that’d change their lives.The couple made their way to the town, and they immediately fell in love with it.
“As soon as we walked in the front door, with the open air and the open atrium and the front porch with all the windows … we just knew immediately that’s where we needed to do the tea house,” Roger says.
