A second-round pick of the Yankees in the 2022 draft out of Cal Poly, Thorpe blazed through two levels of the minors, finishing his season at Double-A with 30 1/3 innings and a 1.48 ERA. At the two levels, he tossed 139 1/3 innings with a 2.52 ERA and 182 strikeouts against 38 walks.
Within MLB Pipeline’s top 100 list, only one pitcher threw more innings this season than Thorpe, the Pittsburgh Pirates Quinn Priester, who reached the major leagues.
