The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays continue their three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.

The problem here, and it’s become a Yankees doozy that has to be addressed in the offseason, is his expensive bat way more often than not is a non-factor anymore.

“Look, it’s obviously been a struggle,” manager Aaron Boone said. “He’s just having a hard time getting on one of those really hot grooves where he goes a month at a time. He hasn’t had that stretch, and part of it was due to the injury early and getting back.” Boone didn’t have much to say when he was asked about Stanton’s running. Asked if it is what it is, the manager responded, “Yeah.”At least Gallo could run down flyballs that weren’t right at him in the outfield. He’s no slow poke, either.

But he’ll turn 34 in November … an old 34. What we’re seeing now from Stanton, a healthy version, might be what we see in the coming years when his body isn’t broken down. Dumping Stanton will be Steinbrenner’s call, but it needs to be done for the sake of having a better shot at being an American League power in 2024 and beyond.

Here’s how the Yankees maybe can get rid of Stanton and save a little of that $98 million that they owe him.
