AYER HITAM: Four vehicles were damaged when a workshop caught fire in Pekan Ayer Hitam.

Ayer Hitam fire station operation commander Sudarman Abd Hamid said that two cars, one four-wheel drive and one van were between 4% and 30% burnt following the incident at about 11.36am on Monday .

"Seven firemen and one Fire Rapid Tender vehicle were deployed to the scene after we received the emergency call,” said Sudarman. "We managed to put out the fire at about 11.55am using two hoses. No injuries were reported," he added in a statement. In a separate incident, a 62-year-old was rescued after her house caught fire here at Bandar Baru Uda.

Larkin fire station operation commander Suhaimi Jamal said that the two storey bungalow was about 40% burnt after being caught on fire.A total of 24 firemen were deployed to the scene upon receiving the call.The fire was completely put out at about 4.35pm and we managed to rescue a senior citizen living in the house. She was not injured," he said.
