Syerleena drove her Perodua Bezza to the event, only for the RELA member on duty to deny her entry.
The Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera in Penang, Syerleena Abdul Rashid recently shared what she noticed about some people when it comes to driving local cars, which some deem “no class.”
In her TikTok post, @syerleena_rashid shared an incident that happened when she attended an event in Seri Delima, Penang. Back then, she was still the legislative member for the district before YB Connie Tan took over in 2023.“I was chased away from my own programme because I drove a Bezza.” Syerleena then added that according to Islamic teachings, a double standard treatment is Haram and everyone has to be treated equally, regardless of who they are.
“Proton or Bezza, must you look down on national cars? It’s sad to see how some people still look down on national cars.” She then revealed that to this day, she still has the Bezza in her possession, and shared that her very first car was also locally made – a Perodua Kancil. When asked by a netizen about driving luxury cars, Syerleena said in the comment section that she doesn’t have one.She also highlighted that she does not bother with what others think about her driving a local car, and at the end of the video, Syerleena had a reminder for those who look down on local brands.“We have to break the barrier between the upper class and the lower class.
