Alan Dare will receive Queensland Police's highest honour posthumously as the service acknowledges his sacrifice in the deadly Weiambilla shooting.
The Wieambilla local was shot and killed on December 12 when he went to investigate and help his neighbour after hearing gunshots on their property.

Mr Dare had heard gunshots and seen a fire at his neighbour's property and went to lend a hand when he walked into the active siege.
