The SA Weather Service said the first spring thunderstorms are expected over Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
After soaring temperatures during a heatwave in Gauteng, the“Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms. Warning valid for: 15 October 2023 until 23:00 SAST. Impacts: Strong winds, Heavy rain resulting in flooding, hail and lightning. Areas affected : Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga,” said the weather service.Following a hot windy Saturday in most areas in Gauteng, temperatures are expected to cool off on Sunday.
For Johannesburg, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 21°C with warm with isolated thundershowers in the afternoon.Pretoria will see a maximum of 23°C, with cloudy conditions in the morning. Residents should expect late afternoon showers going into the evening.A Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements, roads, low-lying areas and bridges is expected.
