WATCH | Gauteng cops attacked while patrolling Edenpark
Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela has called for the arrest of Edenpark residents who allegedly attacked police officers on Thursday.According to police, it was the second attack on police this week.
Residents in Edenpark, Gauteng, allegedly attacked patrolling police officers when they stopped a vehicle on Thursday. The officers retaliated by firing warning shots, according to police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili. A video of the incident shows angry people accosting an officer and another group of people banging on the front window of the police vehicle. A second officer then gets out of the vehicle on the passenger's side and fires shots.The violent behaviour of some of the community of Edenpark and lack of respect towards the police will not be tolerated. All those who were involved in the attack on police must be arrested and brought to justice.
