KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — Former Santubong MP Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was sworn in as the 19th president of the Dewan Negara this morning replacing Tan Sri Rais Yatim.
Also sworn in as senators were former Islamic affairs minister Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa from Parti Amanah Negara and former deputy home minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed from Umno. Wan Junaidi who is from Sarawak-based Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu was reported to be the sole nominee for the presidency.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled the motion for the 78-year-old’s nomination, which was seconded by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
