Google officially released Android 13 recently, though it’s only available for the company’s own Pixel lineup as of right now. Well, the latest Android OS software won’t be Pixel-exclusive for long as two smartphones will be getting the update soon too, the vivo X80 Pro and iQOO 9 Pro, though it’s not as straightforward as its sounds.
As announced by both vivo India and iQOO India, both smartphones’ update to Android 13 is actually part of Preview programmes by both companies in India, whereby owners can opt to sign up if they want to test drive the update on their devices. In case you didn’t know, iQOO is a subsidiary of vivo and both companies use FuntouchOS on their devices based on Android.
As for the Preview programmes, users are given the option to test FuntouchOS 13 based on Android 13, though it is only limited to 500 users for each programme. The preview software will roll out on 23 August 2022 and eligible users in India can sign up by going to Settings and then System Update. You then have to tap the Settings icon in the upper right corner and select ‘Trial version’.
The 1,000 users selected will then get to use FuntouchOS 13 on their X80 Pro or 9 Pro, though do expect there to be bugs. Hey, at least you get to be one of the first few non-Pixel users in the world to use Android 13 right? So, what do you guys think?
