Village Grocer has shut down its bakery in Bangsar following a customer's allegation of a cockroach infestation. The grocery chain is conducting a thorough cleaning and inspection before reopening the bakery.
Village Grocer has taken swift action after a customer reported seeing a cockroach in the bakery section of one of its stores. The incident, which was brought to light on Facebook, prompted an immediate response from the grocer. In a statement released on Thursday (Jan 16), Village Grocer acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and expressed its deepest regrets. As a result of the customer's complaint, the Bangsar bakery was closed with immediate effect.
All bakery products currently on display were disposed of, and a comprehensive pest control and deep cleaning process is underway. This extensive cleaning operation encompasses all areas of the bakery, including equipment and display units, to ensure a thorough sanitization. The grocer emphasized that the bakery will remain closed until its internal audit team conducts a meticulous inspection. Only after confirming that all necessary measures have been implemented to guarantee the highest standards of hygiene and safety will the bakery be reopened. Village Grocer expressed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene at all times, and apologized for any inconvenience caused by this incident.
