Previously acting in the role, Peter Huddle will hand down his first financial results as chief executive this month, amid uncertain conditions facing both retailers and their landlords.
Shopping mall landlord Vicinity Centres has appointed acting chief executive Peter Huddle to the top post permanently, succeeding Grant Kelley, whose departure was fast-tracked last year after a sexual harassment complaint.
After a distinguished career at retail property giant Westfield, Mr Huddle joined Vicinity in 2019 as its chief operating officer. Seen as a safe pair of hands, he emerged as a clear favourite to lead the $9.5 billion company when it first flaggedMr Huddle will hand down his first financial results as chief executive and managing director on February 15, with uncertain conditions facing retailers and their landlords.
Mr Huddle took over running the country’s biggest shopping mall owner, albeit on an acting basis, earlier than expected last November after the company brought forward Mr Kelley’s departure, initially slated for midway through this year.and after a second, separate report found a high degree of workplace dysfunction in senior executive ranks stemming from Mr Kelley’s behaviour. Mr Kelley strongly denies any allegations of misconduct.
