Malaysian vehicle owners have a six-month window to settle three specific traffic offences at a reduced rate of RM150 to avoid license and road tax renewal issues.
Vehicle owners in Malaysia have six months to settle three traffic summonses at a special flat rate of RM150, or they will not be able to renew their licences and road tax es. Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced this special rate, beginning on Wednesday (Jan 3), will cover exceeding the speed limit, not complying with traffic light rules, notice 114 (requiring the offender to be questioned), and notice 115 (sampan tampal). These offences usually cost RM300.
Loke said this six-month grace period allows those with unpaid summonses to settle them immediately. He added that failure to pay will result in the inability to renew driving licences. Payments can be made through JPJ counters, kiosks, mobile counters, and the myJPJ application. Loke also stated that those with outstanding summonses have already been blacklisted, preventing them from renewing their road tax. He cautioned that some may not be aware of this blacklisting until their road tax or licence is due for renewal.
