IPOH: An ustaz and three wardens from a drug rehabilitation centre in Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar, are believed to be involved with the death of an inmate and have been arrested.
Acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the arrests were made after the 25-year-old inmate, identified as Muhammad Shahrul Samion, from Shah Alam, Selangor, was found dead in a car when he was brought to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital on Aug 17 at about 8.10pm.
"The doctor was made to understand that the man had been unconscious since about 7pm," he said in a statement on Friday .DCP Azizi said according to the rehabilitation centre's founder and wardens, the man had run amok and tried to injure a few wardens with a knife on Wednesday at about 1.45pm. "At about 4.45pm, the man had again tried to escape and jumped from a flight of stairs on the first floor of a building that was about 8m high," he said.
