Controversial televangelist Zakir Naik is suing Penang deputy chief minister P Ramasamy for defamation.
Akberdin was acting for controversial Islamic televangelist Zakir Naik in two defamation suits brought against Ramasamy. Justice Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz directed the lawyer to rephrase his question and not to label the witness. In October and December 2019, Naik filed two separate suits alleging that Ramasamy had issued five statements which were defamatory of him.
Naik, who is a permanent resident, also says Ramasamy defamed him in another statement published by FMT on Oct 1, 2017, by claiming that Malaysia was harbouring an alleged fugitive from India.
