Prof Datuk Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Toriman has stepped down as Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), effective Sunday. In a message to university management, he expressed gratitude to the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, for the trust placed in him during his tenure. Mohd Ekhwan also apologized to all UKM staff for any shortcomings during his leadership and mentioned that he had filed police reports and complaints with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) regarding defamation and allegations made against him. UKM thanked Mohd Ekhwan for his services and contributions during his tenure.
PETALING JAYA: Prof Datuk Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Toriman mengumumkan peletakan jawatannya sebagai Naib Canselor Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia berkuat kuasa Ahad lalu.
Mohd Ekhwan turut mengambil kesempatan untuk memohon kemaafan kepada seluruh warga UKM atas sebarang kekhilafan sepanjang tempoh kepimpinannya. “Terima kasih atas segala fitnah dan tohmahan yang dilontarkan. Alhamdulillah, saya dengan ini menarik diri daripada segala WhatsApp rasmi universiti,” katanya.
Beliau merupakan alumni UKM, memperoleh Ijazah Am dan Ijazah Kepujian dalam bidang Geografi Fizikal dari Fakulti Sains Kemasyarakatan dan Kemanusiaan.
