PETALING JAYA: National men's singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong stunned Singapore's reigning world champions Loh Kean Yew to storm into the men's semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Tze Yong, boosted by his inclusion in the World Championships, continued his great form by pulling off a 15-21, 21-14, 21-11 come from behind victory in his first ever meeting with Kean Yew in the quarter-finals at the National Exhibition on Saturday to keep his medal hopes alive.

The world No. 42 will next meet either India's K. Srikanth or homester Toby Penty for a place in the final but it looks like another duel between Tze Yong and Srikanth is on the cards. While it was joy for the youngster, it was despair for mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See who bowed out after going down 15-21, 19-21 to Scotland's Adam Hall-Julie Macpherson in the quarter-finals.
